BEFORE SETTING A FIRE IN THE OPEN AIR, YOU MUST OBTAIN A FIRE PERMIT.

Persons setting open air fires or brush fires without a permit (or if the fire burns out of control) will be charged a user fee if the Fire Department responds and/or may be subject to a fine under the Provincial Offences Act.

Applications are available at the municipal offices located at  205 Old Highway 17, Plantagenet and at 265 St-Phillipe Street in Alfred.   The permit fee is $25.00.

IN WARDS 1 AND 2 ONLY, the following types of fires do not require a permit:  fires in metal drums with grill, fires for cooking and fires having a flame base of 1 square meter or less.

EACH RESIDENCE IN THE PROVINCE OF ONTARIO MUST HAVE A FUNCTIONAL SMOKE DETECTOR.  Whoever does not comply is subject to a fine under the Provincial Offences Act. For safety purposes, please check your smoke detector on a regular basis.
