Jean-Yves Lalonde was born in 1948 in Curran.  He is still residing in the family home located at 940 Elizabeth Street.  Married since 1975 to Ginette Savage from the village of Alfred, he is father of three children; Jasmine, 34 doctor neuroscience research who lives in Boston with his wife Patricia Bonneau from Lefaivre and their five-year old daughter Maximilienne.  Julien, 30 years old, logistics clerk at the Ottawa hospital lives in Curran with his spouse Aline Mayer, nurse and manager at the Ottawa hospital  and four year old daughter Maeve; Josée-Anne 27 years old teacher at the Embrun High School lives in Wendover with her spouse Nicolas Gour from Alfred also a high school teacher in Casselman.

Jean-Yves obtained a Bachelor Arts  in 1973 at the Ottawa University, a Masters degree in Education with a concentration in educational psychology in 1977 and a supervision agent certificate in 1992.

Retired since 2000 after 33 years in educational field as a teacher, educational advisor at the Ministry of Education and school principal in Chute-a-Blondeau, St Eugene and Plantagenet, he was elected mayor for the township of Alfred and Plantagenet in 2003.

Since then he devotes his time to municipal matters.  Jean-Yves Lalonde favours a vision of teamwork and transparence with the ultimate goal of maintaining and improving quality of life for residents of our municipality.
