| MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR | | | FROM THE MAYOR’S DESK: It is always with joy and anxiety that I wish to convey a few words regarding our beautiful municipality of Alfred and Plantagenet. The experience gained from these past years have provided me with a better outlook of the municipality and a basic understanding for our future growth planning. The primary aim of the Township of Alfred and Plantagenet is to provide and maintain the best living conditions for our residents according to municipal obligations and responsibilities. Our seven communities are surrounded by agricultural sectors; therefore, good harmony must be maintained between the urban agricultural areas which surround us.Our municipal priorities are established to provide the best services to the entire population. We are proud to offer our visitors a road system that meets our expectations which is consistently being improved. Our libraries, community and recreational centers, marinas, attractive and modern amusement parks offer recreational and cultural services to both young and old. Safe roads and houses are always a municipal concern. Our public works and fire department are equipped with appropriate equipment in order to maintain the residents’ and visitors’ safety.The Township of Alfred and Plantagenet is exceptional for its scenery and economic development. Many challenges have been overcome and headway looms over the horizon for the remaining ones. Environmental issues are key elements in Council’s decisions. The Ottawa River, the Nation River as well as our numerous waterways and wetlands contribute to our greenery and provide us with vast agricultural resources. I encourage you to maintain our municipality clean and welcoming and to enhance recycling by participating regularly. Keep in mind that it is our legacy that we prepare today.I urge you to read last year’s financial report found on this web site. Last year’s budget surplus allows for an efficient and realistic budget for 2011. In conclusion, there is still much work to be accomplished in all municipal areas.
