Arethusa Bulbosa

In the Alfred bog, it is possible to observe as early as June a beautiful orchid, the arethusa bulbosa (commonly known as Dragon's mouth), a species which is vulnerable and susceptible to become extinct.  Flowers can appear in early June through to mid-July.

This flower is the watermark image which appears in the background throughout  the website.

If you wish to obtain more information on this splendid orchid or on other flowers and plants which can be seen in the Alfred Bog consult the tourism section and www.ofnc.ca
