Living in the Township of Alfred and Plantagenet Pont

To live in the Township of Alfred and Plantagenet is to embrace the unique charm of this historical  rural community, nestled in the heart of Eastern Ontario. Made up of seven essentially Francophone villages including Alfred, Curran, Lefaivre, Pendleton, Plantagenet, Treadwell and Wendover, our Municipality is strategically located  between two major urban centres: Ottawa, 45 minutes to the west and Montreal 75 minutes to the east. The United States border crossing in Cornwall, Ontario is only 45 minutes to the south. A ferry at Lefaivre provides direct access to the province of Quebec.

For those who seek a more rural setting, the Township is crisscrossed by quiet country roads and lanes which, along with the banks of the Ottawa and South Nation Rivers, all offer great sites for homes or cottages.

A family-friendly Municipality, our Township is home to numerous parks, outdoor recreation  installations and five public libraries. Within the Township and its immediate region, four school boards offer a wide choice in education in both official languages. The various festivals  that take place in the Municipality draw both residents and visitors.

Our many social clubs in the Township offer you volunteering opportunities and social activities.

The Township of Alfred and Plantagenet will welcome you, season after season, with its beautiful rural landscapes.
