Free Tree Giveaway

South Nation Conservation's Seedling Program

In 2024, the Township of Alfred and Plantagenet has reverted to the original formula in which South Nation Conservation will be responsible for managing the registration and distribution of seedlings. 

Citizens wishing to participate in SNC's Free Tree Giveaway event are asked to register via this seedling reservation form.

Township of Alfred and Plantagenet's Apple Tree Initiative

The Township has implemented its own event: the Apple Tree Initiative to offer citizens the chance to win one of 450 available vouchers for a free apple tree in a draw, in partnership with Les Serres M. Quenneville.

Registration

The registration form will be available on this page on April 1, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. Citizens are limited to ONE (1) registration per citizen AND per address. Duplicates will be discarded.

Registration will remain open until April 30 at 12 p.m. The winners will be drawn on April 30th.

Guidelines and Information

The vouchers will be sent via email on May 1st, 2024, and will only be accepted at the nursery Les Serres M. Quenneville, 5690 Hwy 17, Plantagenet, ON. Valid voucher recipients will also receive a 25% discount upon their visit to the nursery for any other garden product.

The vouchers may ONLY be exchanged for an apple tree. Once used, the voucher is no longer valid.

Participants may collect their tree at any point between May 1 and May 30, 2024 at Les Serres M. Quenneville during their business hours.

Participants must present their voucher, either digitally or in print, as well as a valid piece of ID of the person who registered to collect their trees.

50 Million Tree Program

If you are interested in having a minimum of 500 trees planted, Forest Ontario has a program for you.

Managed Forest Tax Incentive Program

Through the Managed Forest Tax Incentive Program, landowners who get their property classified as ‘Managed Forest’ pay 25% of the municipal tax rate set for residential properties.

Water protection

South Nation Water Conservation

South Nation Conservation is a local agency whose mission is to ensure that the management of natural occurrences, natural resources, and human activity results in the protection or improvement of water resources. They are an important partner for the township in the protection of one of our rivers.

Drinking Water Source Protection

The Township of Alfred and Plantagenet's municipal drinking water sources are protected by a regional source water protection plan.

Weed Control

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs' website offers information on noxious weeds like list and tips for getting rid of them.

À la carte

You can consult the municipal natural characteristics with the À la carte application developed by the United Counties of Prescott and Russell. For example, you could determine the type of soil on your property, the extent of the migratory corridor that crosses our township as well as other important information relative to the natural heritage of the Municipality.
