Emergency Services at the Township of Alfred and Plantagenet

Public safety in our Township is of prime concern. Residents and visitors should be aware of all emergency services available to the community. In the event of emergency, be it Fire, Police or Medical always call 9-1-1 first.


With the times of uncertainty about floods, please be aware that there are services offer by the Hawkesbury and District General Hospital for psychological support in case of anxiety, stress, fear or anger.


Our Township has a volunteer fire department with stations in the villages of Plantagenet, Alfred, Wendover and Lefaivre. To speak with someone at the fire department for any non-emergency matter, please call (613) 673-4797, extension 223.



Policing is provided by the Ontario Provincial Police from the Hawkesbury detachment. To speak with someone at the Ontario Provincial Police, Hawkesbury detachment concerning any non-emergency matter, please call (613) 632-2729. After choosing your language preference, select option 2. You may also call the OPP Communications Centre at 1 (888) 310-1122.


Medical Services

Emergency Medical Services (ambulance) are provided by the United Counties of Prescott-Russell. To reach the ambulance services administration for any non-emergency matter, please call (613) 673-5139.

The Township's Emergency Management program objective is to enhance community safety through emergency planning and preparedness. The Township’s Emergency Plan is a component of the complete emergency management program. In the event of an emergency, the plan assigns responsibilities and guides the actions of key officials.
