NEWS RELEASE

A New Ice rink in Wendover Thanks to a $ 150,000 OTF Grant

Township of Alfred and Plantagenet, March 1, 2019 —

Last Friday at the official opening, the all-new Wendover Ice Rink, located at 5000 Center Street, Wendover, On, K0A 3K0, welcomed the public and the students of Saint Joseph Catholic Elementary School of CSDCEO in Wendover .

At this event, OTF representative Jacques Héroux, and Alfred-Plantagenet School Councillor Roger Chartrand attended the official opening and congratulated the Township of Alfred and Plantagenet for the accomplishment of this beautiful project.

“I am thrilled to see this investment in Wendover, which will promote a healthy lifestyle and enrich our community spirit,” said Amanda Simard, MPP for Glengarry-Prescott-Russell.

The construction of this rink was made possible by the generous donation of the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) and the Government of Ontario. An amount of $ 150,000 has been given to the Township for this beautiful project. A supplementary budget of $ 35,000 from the Township was added, for a total budget of $ 185,000.

Two more phases of construction are planned for this location in 2019. The second phase is for the ball hockey project | Dek hockey and the next for basketball. With an additional municipal budget of $ 65,000.

The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) is an agency of the Government of Ontario, and one of Canada’s leading granting foundations. OTF awarded more than $120 million to some 700 projects last year to build healthy and vibrant communities in Ontario.
