Treasurer

The Township of Alfred and Plantagenet requires the services of a person to fill the position of Treasurer. 

JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer / Clerk, the Treasurer manage, coordinate, administrator and control all the operations performed by the employees of the Finance Department with the help of financial and accounting software systems in compliance with provincial legislation, generally accepted accounting principles and municipal by-laws.

EDUCATION: University Diploma (Bachelor Degree) with a specialization in accounting or an equivalent diploma combined with at least ten (10) years of experience, or equivalent, in a similar position or in the public administration and the preparation of financial statements. 

LANGUAGE:       Orally/Written (Bilingual-English /French).

REQUIREMENTS 

HIRING CONDITIONS:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Municipal Act, other acts and by-law and accounting principles applicable to municipal environment;
  • Training and experience in municipal finances, in municipal administration and fund accounting;
  • Member or eligible to become a member of the Association of Municipal Managers, Clerks and Treasures of Ontario; 
  • Ability to analyse matters relating to finance, identify issues and potential problems and propose solutions and recommendations;
  • Demonstrate a capacity to work under minimal supervision;
  • Ability and ease to make public presentations sometime concerning delicate or controversial subjects;
  • Able to manage and assign employees and have knowledge of the tasks and works of a municipal finance department;
  • Able to use a computer and be familiar with Excel and Word software;

Practical knowledge of the VADIM and Asset Management Plan would be an asset.

JOB CONDITIONS: 

Job conditions are those prescribed in the municipal by-law.  The salary scale for this position is under revision.

Civil Engineer Technician

The Township of Alfred and Plantagenet is seeking the services of a person to fill the position of Civil Engineer Technician.  It is a contractual full time position (40 hours of work per week) for a duration of one (1) year with the possibility of permanency with the Public Works Department. 

JOB SUMMARY:

The Civil Engineer Technician assists the Public Works Department Superintendent in the management, coordination, supervision and execution of the works and operations at the landfill site, helps in the design, the work planning and the maintenance of the Township road network, ensure the updating of the Asset Management Plan, prepares the request for tenders for various municipal projects and collaborates with the other municipal departments in reviewing the construction projects within the municipality.

EDUCATION:   Holds a Professional College Degree Diploma as Civil Engineering Technician. 

LANGUAGE:    Orally/Written in French and English (Bilingual).

REQUIREMENTS

HIRING CONDITIONS: 

  • Knowledge and training in Health and Safety in the Workplace and First Aid or wilful in obtaining it;
  • Competent and knowledgeable with word and data processing softwares (Word, Excel, etc.);
  • Capable of communication in French and in English (orally and in writing);
  • Hold a valid Class G driving permit;
  • Demonstrate a capacity to work under minimal supervision;
  • Demonstrate a capacity to work with short timelines and deadlines;
  • Dynamic personality. 

JOB CONDITIONS:                       

Job conditions are those prescribed in By-law 2011-36, as amended.  The salary scale for this position is established as follows (indexed 2017): from $59,155 to $79,276 per year for a 40 hours per week schedule.
