(part-time position)

The Township of Alfred and Plantagenet requires the services of a part-time (14 hours of work per week - minimum) Municipal Law Enforcement Officer.


Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer / Clerk, the By-Law Enforcement Officer enforces municipal by-laws of the Township of Alfred and Plantagenet. He/she ensures public safety by engaging in a variety of enforcement activities.

EDUCATION: College Diploma in a field related to law enforcement.

LANGUAGE: Orally/Written in French and English (Bilingual).

Post-secondary education, with a degree or diploma in By-Law Enforcement or Police Technology;
3-5 years’ experience in enforcement;
Experience in supervisory or team leadership;
Knowledge of municipal by-laws (Property Standards By-Law);
Ability to use MS Office software; Solid communications skills;
Member or prospective member of the Ontario Municipal Law Enforcement Officers Association and the Ontario Association of Property Standards Officers Inc.;
Hold a valid "G" class driving license;
Good physical condition;
Availability to work shifts, including nights, weekends and statutory holidays; Hold a valid first aid certificate;
Provide a criminal record check certificate.


Job conditions are those prescribed in the municipality by-law. The salary scale for this position is under revision.

Healthy Kids Bike Promotion Attendant

The Township of Alfred and Plantagenet are looking for a mature and motivated person to fill the Healthy Kids bike promotion position.

Under the supervision of the Director of Recreation and Healthy Community Action Project Officers Alfred-Plantagenet and Bourget, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following tasks:

• Promoting cycling in the community served by the Healthy Kids program;
• Promotion of the Prescott-Russell recreation trail and bicycle loops;
• Enhancing the Healthy Kids Bike Fleet, Creating a Loan System
• Attend the organization of promotional events for the bike and participate in the activity, if necessary
   (CANBIKE / Vélo Québec, the little adventure / The great crossing).
• Count the number of users, conduct a survey and compile information
• Consider the condition of the trail and cycle loops. Report any danger or problem.
• Intervene appropriately with cyclists to reassure, assist in the repair of a problem
              mechanical, to advise, and encourage in case of accident.
• Welcome, inform and direct users.
• Preparation of reports and other clerical tasks


The candidate is a person who likes physical work, the outdoors as well as office work.
When the temperature does not allow work outside, the candidate engages in clerical tasks.

• Ability for teamwork (autonomy, dynamism, interpersonal skills, honesty, versatility, sense of initiative, sense of organization and attention to detail).
• Skills for written and verbal communication in French and English.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office software
• First aid course
• Hold a valid Ontario driver's license, category G.
• Have access to a vehicle so you can travel for work
• Be available to work, occasionally, weekends or evenings.

• Knowledge of global positioning system (GPS) equipment and geocaching an asset.
• Knowledge of the Prescott and Russell area and its tourist attractions.
• Knowledge of bicycle repair.
• General First Aid Certificate, CPR Level C and DEA, would be an asset.
• Post-secondary education and / or experience in customer service would be an asset.
• Can-bike training would be an asset.

The successful candidate will be required to provide a criminal record check.
The candidate must be available from April 30 to August 31, 2018
The number of working hours is 35 hours per flexible weeks work schedule
The hourly rate is the student salary established at $ 13.15 per hour by the province of Ontario on January 1, 2018
