  • One child will use 6000 disposable diapers from birth to potty training which equals one ton of garbage. Using cloth diapers will reduce the quantity of waste sent to the landfill.
  • Disposable diapers take up to 500 years to fully decompose.
  • 2,400,000 trees are cut down every year in Canada to make disposable diapers
  • Each year 1.7 billion diapers go directly to the landfill which requires 17,000 garbage trucks to transport them to the landfill.

Eligibility

  • Between January 1 and December 31, 2026, you must have a child less than 6 months old or be pregnant.
  • Be a resident of the Township of Alfred and Plantagenet.
  • Use cloth diapers from birth to potty training.
  • Sign up before December 31, 2026.
  • Submit documentation in the first six months after the birth.
  • Purchase a minimum of 20 cloth diapers.

Mandatory Documents

  • Agreement contract
  • Proof of residence (Tax account, hydro bill, lease, etc.)
  • Original invoice for the purchase of a minimum of twenty cloth diapers.
  • Child's birth proof (birth certificate). If you are pregnant, you may submit this at a later date.

Agree to use cloth diapers purchased in conjunction with the Township of Alfred - Plantagenet for the entire period during which my child will wear diapers.
