The Township of Alfred and Plantagenet's Canada Day will have you moving and dancing with its annual Canoe-Kayak Race and shows for everyone! In the evening, celebrate with a performance from LGS (Le Groupe Swing), a group much loved both by teenagers and older audiences. The group has several awards and nominations to its name, including one at the ADISQ Gala in the "Album of the Year - Traditional" category, and another at the JUNO Awards for "Francophone Album of the Year"! At the end of the day, as per tradition, unique fireworks will be displayed over the Ottawa River around 10 p.m.
The event takes place at the Riverside Park in Lefaivre (1965 Lajoie Street, Lefaivre) starting at 9 a.m. on July 1.
9 a.m.: Start of canoe-kayak races
9 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.: Start/finish celebration at the Lefaivre Marina (games and bouncy castles for families)
2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.: Line dancing with the Lefaivre Senior's Club at the MRG Joseph Charbonneau Community Hall4 p.m.: Opening of the evening festivities
4:30 p.m.: Performance by Socks Over Pants
6:30 p.m.: Canadian rock tribute with Maple Juice
8:30 p.m.: Performance by LGS (Le groupe SWING)
11 a.m. to 11 p.m.: Lefaivre Lions Club food service and bar
10 p.m.: Fireworks on the river
The race will start at 9 a.m. at the Lefaivre Marina (1965 Lajoie Street, Lefaivre). The race will also end at the same place. There will be games and one bouncy castle for families on site from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Registration can be done online until June 27th. Last-minute registration will also be accepted on site.
The 11 km race is $30 per watercraft.
