OFFICIAL LIST OF CANDIDATES FOR THE 2022 MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS AND RELEVANT VOTER INFORMATION

Plantagenet, August 25, 2022 – The candidate nomination period for the 2022 Municipal Election has now closed. The nomination period began on Monday, May 2, 2022, and ended at 2 p.m. on August 19, 2022.

Candidates nomination certification

On August 22, 2022, the Township Clerk certified eleven candidates in accordance with the Municipal Elections Act, 1996.

Four candidates are in the running for the position of Mayor of the Township of Alfred and Plantagenet:

  • BEAULNE, René
  • GALIPEAU, Chantal
  • LAVIOLETTE, Yves
  • PRUDHOMME, Marc

As there were only two applicants to the position of Municipal Councillor in Ward 1, both of the following candidates were elected by acclamation as councillors in Ward 1 as per article 37 of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996.

  • CADIEUX, Jean-Pierre
  • LAMARCHE, Benoit

The three following candidates are in the running for two Municipal Councillor positions in Ward 2.

  • DUCHARME, Emilie
  • VIAU, Antoni
  • WALKER, Ian

And finally, electors will be able to vote for two candidates for the position of Trustee for the Conseil scolaire de district catholique de l’Est ontarien.

  • CHARTRAND, Roger
  • LALONDE, Louise

Key Dates and Voter Information

The voting process of the elections will begin with advance voting from October 19 to 23, with election day on October 24, 2022. Voter Information Letters will be mailed by first-class mail to all registered electors to enable them to use the telephone/Internet voting service. Please note that all votes must be submitted online or by telephone.

To ensure that you are registered to vote in the municipal elections, visit VoterLookup.ca or by call 1-866-296-6722 (TTY 1-877-889-6722) to confirm or update your information, add an elector name to an address, and change school support for the purpose of voting in a school board election. To remove an individual from your file on VoterLookup.ca, you must contact MPAC by telephone at the number listed above.

Voter Help Centre will be available at the Town Hall located at 205 Old Hwy 17, Plantagenet, ON, during the following dates and times for those requiring access to computers, tablets, or telephones:

  • October 19-21, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • October 22-23, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • October 24, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Additional information can be found on the elections page of the municipal website. The results will be announced on Monday, October 24, shortly after 8 p.m.
