Dear residents of the Township,

The year 2024 brings certain changes to the waste collection system.

Firstly, we would like to remind you that the Township no longer ensures the collection of residential recyclable materials. Since October 1, 2023, this service has been managed by the non-profit organization Circular Materials. The local contractor providing this collection, Cool Containers, is responsible for responding to any questions and comments regarding residential recycling collection.

In addition, as of April 1, 2024, the Township's waste collection will be provided by the company GRS Sanitation Inc. Specifically, the new company will be responsible for the collection of residential and commercial waste as well as the collection of commercial recycling.

The change of contractor brings two important logistical changes.

  1. The residential collection schedule will remain the same, with the exception of certain additional holidays. During a public holiday, the collection will be delayed by one day. See the list of days without collection below.
    1. July 1 — Canada Day.

    2. September 2 — Labour Day.

    3. December 25 — Christmas Day.

    4. January 1, 2025 – New Year’s Day; and

    5. Good Friday 2025.

  2. For efficiency reasons, the Township is turning to an automated garbage collection system where the gray bin will now be picked up by a truck equipped with a mechanical arm. A gradual transition will begin on April 1, 2024. It will therefore be important to place your bin less than three (3) meters from the roadway, ensuring that the wheels face your residence and that there is a minimum of two (2) feet or 0.6 metres of distance between the garbage bin and any other object.

To place wheeled bin for collection, ensure wheels and handles are facing home, lid is closed with no objects on bin, and that the bin is at least 0.6 meters (2 feet) from any other object on all sides
