The spring garbage collection in the Township of Alfred and Plantagenet takes place every spring. This year's collection will be from Monday, May 6, to Friday, May 10, 2024. The items will be picked on the usual collection day.

The Spring Garbage Collection is for residential properties only.

Maximum Quantity

The maximum quantity of waste must not exceed the size of a pickup truck box  (1.2 metres by 2.4 metres by 1.2 metres or 4 feet by 8 feet by 4 feet). Individual items may not exceed a weight of 150 pounds. Items that do not comply with the following mentions will be left on the site.

  • Bed springs and mattresses

The following items will not be picked up

  • Construction materials
  • Animal carcasses
  • Dirt
  • Electronic waste
  • Concrete
  • Stones
  • Hazardous products like paint and oil
  • Industrial waste
  • Liquid waste
  • Vehicle parts or bodies
  • Tires (free of charge at all time at the landfill)
  • Organic yard waste like grass, leaves, branches, trunks and stumps (free of charge at all time at the landfill)

Important information for items that contain cooling fluid:

Refrigerators and freezers must have their doors removed before disposal.

Items that contain cooling fluid like freezers, refrigerators, air conditioners and heat pumps must be emptied by a qualified technician who must affix a notice on the appliance. This notice must indicate the date, the name of the technician, his certificate number, and a declaration that the equipment does not contain any refrigerant.
